My Students
Early childhood education teachers can all agree on one thing: students thrive on structure, organization, and routine. My students are unique and energetic learners who each have very specific goals and skills they are working on, throughout the day. Every activity that designed in my classroom is geared towards accomplishing these goals. These goals go beyond academics and include activities of daily living and social skills.
With such high energy my students are always on the move and looking for something to do.
They love a challenge and are excited when they are able to accomplish something that was previously challenging. We encourage each other and create a safe space for risk taking.
My Project
Everyone likes to know exactly where things are and can become frustrated if something is misplaced or is difficult to locate. While I encourage independence and try to make defined areas in the classroom many of the shelves that are used daily are inaccessible to students. This means that they rely on an adult to access materials, games, and centers throughout the day.
Furniture that is easily accessible for my students will allow my students to take ownership of the materials, organization, and appearance of the classroom.By donating to our project you will not only help with organization but allow our classroom to have clear dividers using the furniture.
A large open room can be intimidating for some students and creating sections minimizes distraction and allow students to establish boundaries with ease.
