My Project
I've struggled to encourage students to "speak up" when presenting writing to the whole class. Many children want to read out loud, but there is a big difference between wanting to get up in front of your peers, and the actual experience. Add to this a soft voice, and you basically get the beginning of a fear of public speaking that can continue through adulthood. I believe that by providing good amplification of their speaking voices, I can help them overcome any lack of confidence they may have already developed by fourth grade. I say give them a microphone and they will sing!
