Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach extraordinary kindergarten and first grade students that have diverse learning needs. We are fortunate enough to have either a chrome book or iPad for each student that are used to enhance their learning and engage their multi-sensory needs. Since my students come to me from their homeroom, their headphones are typically stored there, forgotten, or a pair was not sent to them from their supply list. This then leads our room without headphones and constant questions such as "What did it say?!" A room without headphones is very loud! The volume is disturbing when students are on technology and they can't hear what they should be listening to on their own devices. Students become distracted, frustrated, and disengaged when they are unable to hear what they are supposed to be doing.
Imagine yourself in a room with Kinder and 1st grade students, with their devices, no headphones, all listening and "playing" different phonics, stories, or math game at max volume.
Sounds like a fun time right? These headphones will allow students to focus and remain engaged on their individualized learning. The organizer will also help solve the problem of having travelling and forgotten headphones when transitioning to different class settings since they will be nicely organized in the room. The laminating sheets and folders will help keep their login information organized and accessible. This will create a classroom that is focused and engaged to work at centers, independently, and in small groups. I appreciate your donation to let us hear what we are doing!
