This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Most of my students don't have access to books at home. Many of my students only read at school. In First Grade reading and writing are very important. Students need to have access to a variety of books that they are interested in. This will help encourage them to enjoy reading. By adding more new diverse books to my classroom library I will be able to encourage my students so that they enjoy reading.
One of the most important things in First Grade is that students gain a love for reading.
Reading helps students in every subject area and gives them a confidence that nothing else in this world can give them. Many of my students come from low income neighborhoods and would love some books that they can relate to!
My Project
My project will help my students learn to love reading! This project will help make my classroom library more diverse and will give my students more options of books to read. These books will help my students grow not only in reading but also writing. These books not only help my students read and help them make connections to books, but also expand their knowledge of how to handle our differences.
When students begin to enjoy reading it makes a world of difference.
My students will be able to choose books that interest them, these books will help my students to grow stronger in reading.
