My Students
Teaching children in one of the most expensive cities in the country brings many unusual challenges. We currently have a disproportionate district system of school funding that is generously being supplemented by corporate donations. My students are not among the most socially or economically disadvantaged in my city, so they are often ignored. It is my experience that if kids can do anything if you give them the right tools. It is, therefore, my job to get them what they need to succeed.
My Project
My students need something that immediately will catch and keep their attention. This neon whiteboard lights up. It is interesting and fun to look at and will train my students to read their daily agendas and homework every day. This will also help them see the words that are written clearly. The blackboard has given way to the whiteboard. This modern progression has led to some problems as white does not allow for a vivid background. Words simply do not POP! My 4th graders are flooded with print requirements. If it isn't shiny they often won't read it. We need a neon whiteboard, neon markers and an easel. I'd like to try this.
