My Project
My ultimate goal as a teacher is to create a beautiful, positive learning atmosphere where students feel not only welcome but comfortable learning a new language. My classroom community is made up of individuals with diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences, and I want them to feel and know that it is okay to be yourself in my classroom and that it is a safe space.
I do this by customizing my classroom and setting up my classroom in a way that most teachers do not.
To me, in a welcoming and inclusive classroom, students are more likely to feel a sense of belonging and when they feel like they belong, they open up and gain interest in what they are learning and are more open to learning. The items in this project, the wallpaper and couches, will help me create that customized experience and offer students something different like flexible seating when they see that this is not just a regular classroom.
