Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are literally the BEST! How can you not love fourth graders? They are at this beautiful age where they are old enough to get *some* sarcasm and they can be *mostly* independent humans but also young enough where their mind is full of wonder and you can be goofy with them.

This is my third year as a novice educator and what surprised me the most during my first two years of teaching was how close I could get to 25 individual humans.

I just love how unique each and every one of my students are. They each have their own humor, dreams, laughs, inspirations, ways of learning, ways of growing, and ways of expressing themselves.

I love teaching reading and getting kids excited about jumping into a book and into another world.

I love my rockstars, and we appreciate all of your support!

My Project

I really want to get these reading materials in front of my kids.

This stunning TOON Graphic collection features 52 books comprised of 14 hardcovers and 36 paperbacks (6 titles with 6 copies of each)— plus 2 Spanish titles compliments of TOON!

(From AKJ's Website) --> The small group paperback sets reflect a range of reading levels and are perfect for differentiated instruction, paired reading, and take-home packs for independent reading. These TOON Graphics feature diverse characters that span high-interest subjects including Latin American Folktales, Hawaiian Folktales, Fairy Tales, Historical Non-Fiction, Transportation, Greek Mythology, Adventure and Fantasy. This set features the oversized deluxe edition of Hansel & Gretel by Neil Gaiman and Lorenzo Mattotti and Comics: Easy as ABC, the Essential Guide to Comics for Kids by Ivan Brunetti (perfect for your budding cartoonists!).

Comics and visual narratives bring the text to life in a way that captures young readers’ imaginations and makes them want to read on—and read more. Children also develop their aesthetic sense when they experience the relationship of text to picture in all its communicative power. Vetted by our team of educational experts, TOON Graphics introduce great storytelling traditions from around the world. Making meaning out of reading with the aid of visuals may be the best way to become a lifelong reader, one who knows how to read for pleasure and for information—a reader who loves to read.
