My Project

Our school is an alternative high school where students engage in project-based learning. After successfully buying and setting up a beehive two years ago, students created a pollinator garden last year so that bees, birds, and other insects have a supply of pollen. Students at WFC enjoy an expansive property complete with nature trails. Students aspire to make this space more inviting for the surrounding community by creating an informative native pollinator garden.

Students have already done extensive preliminary work on the garden.

They secured materials, such as shovels, gloves, and raised beds. This additional money will go to purchasing a cultivator/tiller as well as a replacement part for the fence, and will ultimately help create an interactive community learning garden.

This project is a collaboration between civics, science, and math classes. Students will not only learn about the biology of native plants and pollinators but will also bring this garden to the larger community of the school and the surrounding residential area. Once completed, our garden's goal will be to educate about the importance of native plants and pollinator pathways. Students also hope to make and sell products from the beehive. This garden will help bring learning outside the classroom so students can take part in a hands-on learning experience. Please support my students and help them cultivate their new garden!
