My Project
The students in our high school's CLS class are adventurous, knowledge hungry, imaginative, individuals, on a mission to thrive in the community with meaningful contributions following their high school experience. Many of our teenagers are working through a post-graduation transition program here at school, while others are navigating the opportunities for our unique population, along with their core studies. Not only do we manage the school vending machines, but we are in charge of the student store during lunchtime and all of of the school swag.
These brilliant students appreciate all opportunities to access important experiences in our community.
They all frequent public transportation with support while on most journeys, and all participate actively in their own IEP meetings to increase independence and self-advocacy. Our classroom would benefit greatly from a desktop computer that our students can use for numerous occasions. They can accomplish job applications, work on their IEPs with their case manager, they can create and demonstrate presentations, and map out their excursions when needed.
The opportunities to improve the learning in our CLS class would multiply with a new HP classroom desktop computer. Many of our students will finetune computer skills they already possess, but others will have the opportunity to develop computer skills, while accomplishing life skill necessities. Our classroom houses many students all day long, and a computer would be one element that will add novelty and encouragement in the form of a diverse learning experience.
