I am lucky enough to work with special children in a Title 1 school in Staten Island, NY. Children classified with Autism are visual and kinesthetic learners that require various materials to help them succeed. Their limited attention spans also make it difficult to maintain engagement during learning activities.
Using a whiteboard is a daily necessity in my special education classroom.
It is used to display bright and colorful visuals which are essential for my special learners. My students love to come to the board and practice writing their letters or numbers. However, the whiteboard in our room is not in good shape. It is ready to retire! It is very difficult to erase what has been written on it and it is un-sturdy which makes it unsafe for my students.
By donating to my project, you will help me provide a new whiteboard, markers, and cleaning cloths for our classroom. This whiteboard also rolls which will allow me to bring the board to different parts of the classroom. The learning opportunities are endless!
