My students need flexible seating options of scoop chairs, wobble cushions, yoga mats, and stools to meet their sensory needs and maximize their time on task for learning.
I have the privilege of teaching kindergarteners and first graders in a self contained special education program. My students are excited to come to school each day. Each child enters my classroom with their own background and it is my job to create a safe, loving environment for them to learn and grow. As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, I strive to provide them with meaningful learning opportunities.
My students are energetic, creative, little learners.
They benefit from a highly structured learning environment that gives them opportunities to move while learning.
My Project
I have a diverse group of students who have both attention and sensory needs. It is hard for them to sit still and stay engaged in whole group and small group instruction. The requested wobbly cushions, stools, and scoop chairs will allow my students to move in their seat while learning.
The donations to this project will help my students with focus and attention, as well as meet sensory needs, improving academic achievement.
Many of my students need frequent breaks throughout the school day, which can disrupt the learning environment. The flexible seating options I'm requesting will allow them the necessary movement they need throughout their day, while they continue to learn and grow.
