My students need 7 power supplies and 28 wires so that they can vary the voltage and current in the circuits they create in physics and engineering labs experiments.
Students in Physics and in Engineering love to explore the world through science and design. They use their inquisitive nature to try to understand how the world works through hands on experiments and practice. It's great to see students fall in love with science while in my classroom!
Our school is in its fifth year and is located in the heart of an urban neighborhood in a large city.
The students come from all over the city and many were at the top of their classes in their elementary schools. Our school is one of the most diverse in the district, with several ethnic groups making up a piece of the school demographic. 85% of our students qualify for reduced or free lunch, reflecting the strive and determination they need overcome poverty. In our first graduating class last year a majority of the students were the first in their family to attend college.
Our students are bright and energetic and love learning. They are excited to be the next leaders in our society, and from the looks of it, we are in good hands!
My Project
My students will use the power supplies and wires to create circuits in which to test the effects of electricity and magnetism. In order to make electricity and magnetism labs more engaging, they need to be able to change the current and voltage of the circuit. Currently we can only use D batteries in our circuits, which limits the capacity to design different types of circuits. With the power supplies the students can adjust the the current and voltage by simply turning a knob.
My students need power supplies and wires so that they can vary the voltage and current in the circuits they create in Physics and Engineering labs experiments.
Our students have a keen interest in how electronics are designed. By donating to this project, you are not only helping students to learn more about electricity and magnetism, you will be inspiring my students to be the next scientists and engineers of our country. Thank you so much for reading about our project and considering a donation!
