My students need 40 Seat Sacks to help organize and store their leveled books.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Speed's classroom raised $511

My Students
My students need books to read on their individual levels. I have selected books that the children can use during independent reading time and to borrow to take home for their daily reading.
The 30 students in my first grade classroom are as diverse in academic levels as they are in culture.
Our Title 1, inner-city school is "home" to almost 1200 students with a multitude of ethnicities. There are over 30 languages spoken in our school. They attend school in a district where poverty is an issue, and many don't get the extra support or access to resources that are needed to help them be more successful in school. Despite these challenges, they are very excited about reading and learning about new things!
My Project
One of the things I try to teach my first graders is how to organize the materials they use. It is so important that they can find what they are looking for!
I am requesting Seat Sacks that will be hung on the back of each students' chair.
These will be a great tool for my little learners to store their variety of leveled books. This will also help them to take ownership of their independent readers and keep track of what they are reading.
I think this will also be great for students who finish an activity early as the books will (hopefully!) fill in some "extra" time. They will have books on their level right at their seat!
