My students need a Communication Station as a place to put completed projects and special things, and parents need a place to sign in/out and get information.
The students in my classroom have qualified for our state-funded preschool due to a variety of risk factors. Some are eligible because of absent parents, illness in the home, documented behavioral disorders, or learning difficulties. Some are English language learners. Most qualify due to low income. Our program is completely free to them and provides 2 meals and one snack per day. The program goal is to take preschool students who are at risk of educational failure and provide them with a high-quality preschool experience that gives them a much needed boost before they head to kindergarten.
My four-year-olds are excited to learn and love coming to school!
My associate teacher and I focus on learning each child’s needs and addressing them in a loving, fun, supportive environment. We want them to learn the skills they need, but we also want them to have a very positive first experience with school! The room that we are in this year was not a classroom last year so we are working to build up the resources and materials to help our students have a successful, active learning experience. Thank you!
My Project
Preschoolers get quite excited whenever they have something they can take home to their families. They want to take it to their mailboxes right then!
Currently, our students must wait until an adult can go with them out the door and down the hall to their backpack so that they can put their precious projects away.
Their parents also must sign in/out every day. Right now they must bend down to a pre-k table height to do so, which is pretty tough if you're carrying a little sibling! This Communication Station would fix both issues at once and help us teach personal responsibility!
