This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an intervention specialist at a Title I school. I spend my day working with small groups of students who are struggling with grade level concepts. I also spend time after school working with struggling students. We are always looking for new ways to present information.

Our campus has an after school program in the weeks leading up to testing which tries to review material in a new way with lots of manipulatives.

The manipulatives help the students to make connections and have concrete experiences with abstract ideas.

My Project

You hear it all around, we need more technology in the classroom. Well, we have the technology, now what? We have iPads for our intervention students, but now we need more effective ways to use them during group time.

Osmo helps answer the question of what to do with the iPads.

The Osmo kits help our students learn and reinforce crucial concepts such as letter recognition, phonemic awareness, number sense, and spatial recognition. Plus, they are fun! We currently have two Osmo kits, but we often have up to 6 students in a group. So we need additional kits so each student can learn independently.
