Mrs. McCraw from Spartanburg SC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 2 sets of computer software to enhance our learning experience of westward expansion.

In the age of technology, teachers and classrooms must be on the cutting edge too. Children are engulfed in a world of computers, video games, ipods, and all sorts of electronic devices. Our classrooms must also be stocked with such technology if we expect to reach our students.
My students are very active learners and enjoy unique learning experiences.
Because my classroom is equipped with a Promethean Board and 5 computers, students have access to technology in this facet. My school is Title I meaning we have a high rate of poverty. In order to reach out to the kids I teach and help them get the most from our learning experiences, I incorporate various strategies in my teaching including the use of technology. My students become much more involved in their work when technology is involved even if it's as simple as publishing a piece of writing on Microsoft Word.
By providing my students with the Oregon Trail computer game, I will be able to reinforce our learning through an interactive technological experience. As a student in sixth grade, I remember playing this game myself. Although I didn't realize at that time the learning that was taking place, I can still recall many specifics from the game such as the diseases contracted on the way and how I had to load the wagon just right before the journey west.
Please provide my students with the same learning experience I had in school through the Oregon Trail game.
This game reinforces state social studies standards that are required of my students on standardized testing. Without knowing it, they'll solidify this knowledge, and pretty soon they'll all be itching to travel west on the OREGON TRAIL!
