Help me give my students the necessary tools, flowers and seeds to start a community garden. With the help of the School Garden my students will see how easy it is to start a garden. .
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have bright, eager and intelligent students who love to play outside. They love sports as well as Mindful walks and Yoga.
Lately we have been discussing recycling and reusing material.
I’ve bragged about my recycled garden colorful garden that was created with compost, tires, a few perennials and lots of solar lights.
I want my students to understand the importance of having access to fresh foods that come from the ground and trees. I want my students to see first hand how a seed grows into a seedling. We play games where they have to name a fruit that grows from the tree or a vegetable that grows from the ground.
In a Pizza Garden, herbs like parsley, Italian seasoning, rosemary and oregano. along with tomatoes and peppers, would provide a perfect opportunity to discuss “garden to table foods”I see us making Salads, Pesto and Pizza from foods right out of our garden. If we add some colorful great smelling flowers, we can create a Sensory and Pollinator Garden which would be especially nice for our SPED Kids.
