My Project

Since I started my unit on human impact on our environment, my students have shown so much passion, emotion and interest. They want to learn all they can to inform others and work to make our school more eco-friendly by reducing our carbon footprint.

Currently, my classroom doesn’t have many resources that focus on global warming and my students rely primarily on computers to find information.

Thus, I am hoping to expand our classroom resources to provide students with a variety of learning materials that address all student learners at various skill levels.

I teach a SPED inclusion class that also consists of a high percentage of English Learners, some new to this country. For struggling readers, visuals and hands-on activities provide powerful learning experiences.

Resources such as books (all reading levels), activity kits with hands-on experiments and activities, and visual models representing climate change, will help students deepen their knowledge so they can help our school become more eco-friendly.

My students want to make our school more eco-friendly by educating the school and community. They feel that educating our school, their families, and our community is a step toward slowing down the harmful effects of global warming.

My students want to create a video for the school to educate their peers and the younger students about what they can do to help reduce the harmful effects of global warming. They also want to be knowledgeable and have confidence in what they are sharing. Their passion and dedication to making this world a safer and better place inspires me to do all I can to help them grow into future leaders and gain the confidence they need to continue to make a difference.
