This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Theatre is one of the most exciting activities that students can do after school. It teaches them to be part of a team, develops self-esteem, and most of all: how to have fun! At BHS, we try to promote that with every show we perform. My students have been challenged over the years. From plays to musicals, every show has been interesting and thought-provoking. They are chosen to teach them about the world around them.

This year, we are upping the ante by producing one of the most exciting plays written by the Bard - The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Even though students read this play in high school, we all know that Shakespeare was meant to be seen and not just read. When the students are able to bring the characters to life and get the words in their mouths, amazing things can happen, and Shakes-fear can be avoided.

This year, our school is going to have just one lunch period. Since my students stay until 4 pm or later, they will often not eat lunch and be hungry later. My project is to make sure that the students have enough energy to get through their rehearsal work every day. By providing snacks for them, you will be helping to ensure that their hunger is for the Theatre and not for food.
