In my classroom, we work hard every day with hands-on activities in order to fully keep the attention of my students. Students are expected to take ownership of their learning (which is NEW to most of them) by keeping up with an Interactive Student Notebook.
My school is 92% free and reduced priced lunch.
Most of my students come from poverty, and they come to school in order to have the most basic needs of food, warmth, shelter, and love met. I teach 7th grade which is a tough time for any child, much more for a child who comes to school hungry and tired. A majority of my students cannot afford the most basic of supplies such as paper and pencil, so I provide all necessary supplies for them.
My Project
My students need paper, scissors, glue, and colored pencils for our Interactive Student Notebooks for Language Arts. With these supplies, I will be able to help students remember the information that I am teaching to them. These notebooks allow the students to be creative and independent readers and writers. Students will use the colored paper for "foldables" and the scissors, colored pencils, and markers to decorate and make the information personal to them. These supplies are the basics that are needed in order to fully implement Interactive Student Notebooks within my classroom.
These donations will help my classroom by providing quality materials which are needed to implement student notebooks.
In addition to the valuable Language Arts skills the students are learning, these notebooks are teaching students responsibility for their work and pride in their work.
