My Project

I left the classroom a few years ago to work through a school based behavior program.I have loved it but am excited to go back in the classroom this coming August!

I had worked hard to create a classroom environment that was calming, comforting, and conducive to creating knowledgeable students - but also ones that were kind and looked out for each other!

After 4 years away from the classroom, I have shared most of my supplies and furniture with others and will need to restock and reset. Many people don't realize that schools provide a teacher and student desks, desk chairs, and possibly a bookshelf. Teachers furnish so much of what makes up a classroom!

When you walk into a spec home... what makes it feel empty? Even when perfectly set, clean, and decorated, the lack of pictures and personal touches make it seem cold. I am requesting poster picture frames for this very reason - to add in a touch of "my space" for each student in my classroom. I like to keep in clean and simple, so these large frames are welcoming without being more "stuff" to sit around. One frame will also house our daily mission statement which we create together, say daily, and use in times of need to remind ourselves of our purpose! I like to offer various seating arrangements to promote group work, partner work, if a student just wants some time away to work, etc!

I have students learn alone at their desk, with partners around the room, small groups, etc. Special spaces are needed to allow students to gather together with people they may not sit next to. This carpet will be used daily for our morning circle & more.
