We are a middle school of predominantly low-socioeconomic students, grades 4-8. Unfortunately, many of our students face adversity in many aspects of their lives. Despite the challenges they face, however, our students are both resilient and inspiring. It is my hope to help more of our students benefit from the lifelong skills and emotional support that can be gained through team sports. We want to create opportunities for our students to achieve success and reach their full potential in both academics and athletics. They are truly capable of greatness!
My Project
This year has been one for the record-books. Our community, like so many others, is struggling to find the positivity and motivation needed to make our school year successful. We would like to promote student involvement in joining track, which is one of the most Covid-friendly team sports available. Unfortunately, our school funding does not allow for the new equipment and materials that our students would need to have a successful track season.
Our track team is full of hard-working, dedicated students who strive to be their best, both on and off the field.
They encourage one another and are eager to improve their skills. They take pride in their individual accomplishments, and also in their success as a team.
Our vision is to create a track program that will build self-esteem, promote teamwork and determination, and foster skills that will last our students a lifetime. Our students need shot puts, discuses, practice hurdles, relay batons, and agility training equipment in order to train for the upcoming season.
