Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful and warm-hearted students range in the age of six to seven-years old. Many of my students have obstacles blocking their success to their academic social journey. Most live in poverty, struggle with the English language and have very limited resources. Some of my students are homeless or live in foster care.
If you were to visit our classroom, you would never know my students were faced with so much adversity in their lives.
The excitement and willingness to learn is what you will see and love!
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to read, listen, follow along to their own books at their own reading abilities during the literacy block. As the students read, they will have a quick writing assessment to follow. This best practice will help them not only with comprehension, but with spelling, vocabulary development, letter formation, and creativity by drawing any pictures with the assessment. It is a wonderful chance for independent learning as I pull students for small group instruction.
This will surely be a success for fluency, sigh word practice, and comprehension at this own pace.
I love that they will be able to sing along with some of the books to educate them in the music and arts development.
