My Students

My students are from a high-risk poverty area. Our school is very limited on supplies and the budget teachers get each year is not enough to maintain what we need for our classrooms. Many of my students come to school looking for a hot meal and a warm room with plenty of tools to learn with. I want my students to feel at home while at school to help build their learning and maintain a safe environment.

My Project

A new pencil sharpener and laminator will help my students tremendously. My students are constantly sharpening their pencils and the cheap/basic sharpeners do not last very long in the classroom. They overheat, quit working, or eat the pencils away. With a new sharpener, it will allow my students to get back on task quicker and not lose instructional time by asking to use someone other classrooms sharpener. A laminator will be used to protect and keep center games, projects, and keepsakes within the classroom. The students use math and reading games daily, and without lamination, the games do not last very long.
