This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever searched for a great book to read? My students have found some wonderful books in our library and want to create video booktalks to recommend titles to other students. Video booktalks are just like movie trailers, and students want to develop skills in creating videos.

There are about 1550 students at our high school.

Just like most teens, they love reading, Internet, social media and video. Many of our students do not have access to the Internet or the tools to create video at home. We'd like to be able to do that at school, but we need another Flip camcorder.

My Project

Funding a Flip camcorder for our school library will reach all the students in our building, not just one classroom! A Flip camcorder is a pocket-sized digital camcorder with bookcase-sized capabilities! Students can record video, edit, and post their videos to our network server and even publish to a global audience through the Internet. Students will be able to recommend great books to one another and students around the globe. They will also learn about video creation, ethical use of technology, web-posting, and connecting socially with their peers.

So many of our students do not have the resources to use technology on a daily basis.

There are only so many computers and cameras in our library. We need more! Donations to this project will help our students create original work in ways that are important to them.
