Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students bring to the classroom a myriad of backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles. Many students in my classroom face difficult challenges in their home lives on a daily basis, but show up every day as active participants in their own education and in the classroom.
Together they compose a uniquely creative and enthusiastic learning community that I feel privileged to be a member and leader of.
My students entered kindergarten in very different stages of their educational endeavors. Some attended preschool, some attended transitional kindergarten, and for some kindergarten is their very first educational experience. My kindergartners are putting in an inspiring amount of effort into becoming readers and mathematicians, all at their own pace and all in a safe environment that encourages never giving up with the assurance that making mistakes means they are learning.
My Project
Participation in Dreambox Learning will build an incredibly solid foundation in math for every unique learner in my classroom. Students will gain conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, reasoning skills, persistence, fluency and confidence through achievement. The best part is, that all of my students will gain these mathematical essentials through the program’s individualized and adaptive nature, driven by integrated assessments and individualized instruction. Whether a student is in need of intervention or enrichment, Dreambox Learning will provide it an engaging, visually pleasing, and effective way that my learners will beg to use! In addition, I will get real-time data about my students’ progress in the program that will ensure my time spent with individual student groups is focused on their unique needs! This program is so incredible that I have been dreaming about it and what it can do for all of my more than deserving kinder learners!
