This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Cliffhanger. Wonder. Suspense.

This is how my students get hooked on and develop a love for reading.

They love learning about new things and exploring characters, places and new ideas. They especially love when we have time for a read aloud, listening for different voices, intonations and curious well-placed pauses.

Their creative minds try to predict what will be happening next, only to be surprised and more hooked.

My students bring enthusiasm, eagerness and curiosity into their third and fourth grade year and their love of reading intensifies.

My Project

My students have many opportunities to interact with their devices- iPhones, iPads, Chromebooks.

I want them to return to and appreciate the traditional ways of enjoying books - printed on paper, bound between 2 covers.

They should know what it is like to tuck a book in their desks, see the dog earred pages as a sign of constant book handling and develop a love for the adventures that take place within.

With their own copies of these books, together, we can all experience the friendship of Charlotte and Wilbur and the adventures of James and his new found friends. They are more engaged when they hear voices of the characters, which bring life and realism to the stories.
