Our school has over 800 students in grades K-5 - one of the largest elementary schools in the state of Wisconsin. My class is a multiage classroom comprised of both third and fourth grade students. Although students are at different grade levels, they learn alongside and from each other. Students are in my class for both their third and fourth grade years, which provides me the opportunity to make deep connections with each student as well as their families. The hardest part is letting them move onto fifth grade at the end of their fourth grade year!
My students are curious, eager learners anxious to discover more about their world.
They ask questions. They search out the answers. Each of my students are unique and have their own interests. I love watching each of my students get excited about learning!
My Project
My students use iPads, Chromebooks, or audio books throughout the day to engage in personalized learning opportunities. While these tools have been wonderful for helping tailor the curriculum to individual student needs, the noise level generated from the content that they are engaged in makes it hard for them to concentrate on their own task and they often become easily distracted by the sounds that other students' devices are making. We've tried turning the sound down, but then they miss part of the content.
These headphones will allow for students to be fully engaged in their task by allowing them to hear auditory content while blocking out other distractions in the classroom.
Having access to headphones will allow students to engage in content and enhance their learning when I am working with other students.
Having headphones during state testing on the Chromebooks will also be very beneficial. Headphones can also be used to simply block out background noise for a child that needs quiet for concentrated work time.
