My Project

Our campus has had a challenging year with the tragic loss of a mentor and then a teacher this past week. I would like to set up a station in the hallway where students can come have a few moments of quiet reflection while crafting a card for someone else. The blank cards, special pens and googley eyes will help them have a quiet moment of reflection and whimsy in their busy schedule.

Just a few moments of working on something silly or beautiful can completely change our outlook on the day.

My hope is that this station will help give a few moments of peace and joy both to the student making the card and the recipient. My students challenge themselves with course schedules that are loaded with AP courses and advanced electives. Add to that athletics and life as a teenager, it's no small feat for these almost adults to make it to class each day. Giving them a space to make something small, for someone else. Something that isn't tied to a grade or obligation, just a small token of caring will bring them so much happiness.

Thank you for helping to remind the students that simple acts of kindness can have big impacts. The brightly colored pens and shiny materials will bring back smiles our campus is missing.
