Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a passionate National Board Certified Education Specialist working in a high school setting. Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population. The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has worked on the yearbook staff, attended school activities, volunteered in the community, and served on the (ASB) Associated Student Body. They excel with movement and hands-on experiences. I am blessed to be their teacher and strive to encourage students beyond their greatest expectations.

To help and encourage wellness within the school community, my students will create and launch a wellness cafe during lunch.

This cafe will be a place for students to gather together, create community and make vision wellness boards. Students will use the corkboards, stickers, push pins and images to think about their future, talk with new friends and step away from technology.

This Peer support group can help students cope with their experiences and develop skills to live more effectively. They can also help each other feel less alone and build a sense of community. Thank you for supporting this wellness community.
