Help me give my students who struggle with dyslexia motivation, a well organized room and more engaging instruction for them to become great readers and writers!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My goal is to maximize the time my students are receiving instruction and strategies for reading. The dyslexia classroom is the home for different grade level students and reading skills. So it should be well organize and ready to efficiently assist students’s needs.
The dyslexia teacher works with 5-7 groups of children on a school day, and is also responsible to educate and provide strategies for classroom teachers.
Each group has its own unique learning needs so instruction is tailored to those needs. Magnetic white boards will be used to organized the lesson content by day for each group of students. So the teacher doesn’t have to waste time on changing the content of one white board every new group of students come into the classroom. The lesson pace is fast, and there is no allotted time to prepare a new board for the next group.
Some dyslexic students feel frustrated or have low self-esteem among other issues because of the reading difficulties they face everyday. Giving access to students and faculty through books about what is dyslexia and ways to work with students will motivate and engage them to overcome reading difficulties. Also, books can be share among faculty meetings to bring awareness of these reading difficulties faced by their students daily. These books will bring hope to dyslexic students, educate faculty on the daily struggles of our campus students, and provide strategies for teachers to use in their classrooms.
