Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Special Education classroom located in the South Bronx. My students have a variety of needs and come from a low-income area. My students are wonderful and obviously deserve the best. They work super hard and they are excited and eager to learn. I am hoping through these means I can help make that happen.
My Project
I am requesting incentive prizes to help my students continue their efforts to stay safe, responsible, and respectful.
As students remain on-task, focused, safe, responsible, and respectful, they earn points through Class Dojo.
With every ten points earned, they get to choose a prize from the "small prize box" at the end of the day. When they earn 50 points, they get to choose from the "50's" prize box. What they don't know yet is that they will get "Big Prizes" whenever they earn 100 points.
What a surprise these prizes will be! These snacks and incentives will be prizes, aside from the treasure box which will serve as the "big prize box." They will help the students to stay focused and following expectations so they may better learn within the classroom. This helps to build a sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
Students are encouraged to applaud or congratulate others for earning prizes, thus helping build the classroom sense of community as well for a healthy and respectful learning environment.
