Welcoming Space and Essential Supplies

Help me give my students a welcoming and safe classroom space. In addition, one of my classes in particular has a heavy need for my most expensive request item -- binders!

My Project

As a first-year US History teacher, my goal is to create a classroom environment that fosters social and emotional learning while enhancing student engagement and reducing stress. To achieve this, it's crucial to have the right materials. For instance, I am requesting aromatherapy supplies to help alleviate test anxiety and a lava lamp as a sensory tool for some of my special education students.

My objective in teaching US History is to highlight voices that have historically been marginalized or overlooked.

Incorporating symbols like the Kanaka Maoli flag and the African American flag into the classroom is one way to bring these important narratives to the forefront. Lastly, there are some essential supplies needed for effective classroom operation. For example, one of my classes lacks binders for organizing their content and writing activities, unlike the rest of my classes that has been provided with them. Pencils are also a necessity, as students often arrive without them, which is why I am requesting a sufficient number of pencils for the classroom.
