Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students truly enjoy their time in music class. Each and every one of my third through fifth graders light up my day! They love to come to music class and get involved with singing and dancing. They can take a musical concept and really grow with it. My students are budding musicians! I can't wait to see them every day because I never know what song they have to sing for me, or what instrument they might walk in with.

We receive Title I funds for our students because two out of three of them are economically disadvantaged.

This doesn't stop them from thinking outside the box and using their creativity whenever possible!

My Project

This project includes shirts of all sizes. These shirts will be distributed to students who are willing to make new friends. These students will be there to welcome a new student or to be a friend to an older student who just needs someone to talk to. In the past, we have used shirts that state, "Anyone need a friend?" and "Free Hugs." We want each and every one of our students to feel welcomed and invited into our school building. We want our school to be a safe and welcoming learning environment. These items will make all of this possible. This group of students will also be in charge of watering the flowers on a daily basis at the entrances of our school, per say a welcoming committee. The bean bags will be used as buddy seats so no one feels alone! If someone is having a bad day or just needs a friend they know if they go to the buddy seat someone will come and sit with them!
