My Students

My students are some of the most amazing, determined, and resilient young people I’ve ever met. I’m inspired daily by their strength and drive to do and be better for themselves. They come from unique backgrounds and a variety of socio-economic situations. However, when they enter my classroom, they know that we are all working towards a common goal- to do everything we can to make the future as bright as possible. I want to give my students the strongest possible foundation for success.

In order to achieve this, I have to push my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and proficient readers.

I expect a lot from them, but I know they are more capable than they sometimes believe. As a teacher, I live for the “Aha!” moments when a difficult task suddenly makes sense and becomes easy.

My Project

Students spend many, many hours in a classroom during the week. In fact, students spend more waking hours at school than they do at home. Because of this, the classroom should feel warm and inviting- like a second home. Much like at home, I want to be able to provide my students with basic supplies such as pencils so their entire focus can be on learning.

I would like my learners to be able to focus on their work in a neat, colorful environment.

The bulletin board paper and border will cover some older whiteboards and cabinets to make my classroom feel more comfortable and cozy. They will help to brighten up the room and transform it into a place students want to be.
