My Students

My students are great kids with much energy. I hope they enjoy coming to school as much as I do. I have been teaching for over 14 years and have four children of my own. I want only the best for my children, as well as my students.

One goal I have for the 2019-2020 school year is to help keep them motivated to learn and enjoy our time together.

I teach ELA and social studies to 71 amazing students. I want our classroom to be fun and exciting. Most of the projects posted are both teacher and student-driven. We spend so much time together learning and working hard and want the best classroom environment!

My Project

After completing our N.Y.S. social studies inquiry, the students are going to spend a day competing in our very own Olympic Games. Students will be divided into mixed-class teams. (Brazil – Italy – Canada – Japan – Kenya)

The Day of Olympics will consist of an Opening Ceremony.

Each team will present an opening ceremony consisting of a dance/cheer and song. The opening ceremony should display the culture of the team and show SPORTSMANSHIP.

Teams will parade around the school with marching music and display poster, flag, hats and mascot. The students will

"Pass the Torch" around the school to start the games.

Summer Olympics - OUTDOOR

(Track and Field)

1. Sprints

2. Distance - 3 Laps

3. Shot Put - Use a softball.

4. Long Jump – Use straws show distance.

5. Hurdles - Use CONES

6. Discus Throw - Use FRISBEE

7. Javelin - Use pool noodles

8. Soccer Games (10 minute games)

9. Basketball - Shoot and score (10 minute timer)

10. Volleyball - Bump it over net

11. Tug Of War

12, Relay Races –

Horse Race / Race with torch / Dress-Up Relay / Carry Stuff and Run

13. Lacrosse (Ground Ball Contest) Hungry Hippo

Winter Olympics - INDOOR in the UPPER GYM

1. Speed Skating and Figure Skating

2. Scooters - BOBSLED (Team pulls one another.)

3. SWIMMING - Scooters - Lie on Belly

4. Balance Beam - Walk across a beam.

The flags in this project will be hung in our grade 6 hallway during the 3 weeks we study and prepare for our Olympics. They will be used in the "Opening Ceremony" each year as we carry out the great tradition of participating in the Olympics.
