Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students love to learn about other cultures and the world around us. We are an Candidate International Baccalaureate (IB) school that focuses on world issues and cultures. Our students work on many research projects throughout the year. Our kids get to choose their area of research and then produce a research project on their topic complete with visual aids. Our students come from many different local communities. The students learn from each other about the cultures of our communities and families and share their learning with the community.
My Project
Several of our newest students lost everything in Hurricane Maria. We would like to welcome our new students from Puerto Rico in style with wonderful welcome cards and items that they can use to decorate their new houses. We have filled the need for care and comfort items in the first part of this project for our students who have just arrived from Puerto Rico. For part two of this project series, we are asking for paper, cardstock, a Cricut Explore Machine, vinyl, and other supplies so the third grade classes can design and make welcome cards and house decorations for the families that are coming to our school. We want them to feel very welcome in their new homes. Thank you so very much for helping us welcome our newest students!
