Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first-year teacher at a Title 1 school. My goal for this project is to get materials to create a positive and uplifting space for my students to feel safe and motivated. I want my students to come into my classroom and feel excited to learn!

A positive environment is something I strive to create through communication and community.

I would love a rug for my classroom where my students could sit comfortably during our morning and afternoon community circles.

My goal after this first-year of teaching is to become more organized. Having the materials to do so will help me and my students tremendously! Thank you for your consideration!! :)

My Project

I am so excited to get materials to create an organized and welcoming environment for my students. I added organizational materials that I will use to make community supplies more accessible to students in my classroom. The organizational drawers I requested will hold all the supplies needed for my students on a daily basis (markers, construction paper, lined paper, etc.)

Many times when my students are going engaging projects, valuable time is consumed trying to get materials ready and accessible to all the students.

They are stuck sharing or waiting on other kids. Having storage drawers will help by creating an area where the students can get the materials they need and they are accessible to them at all times without me having to go get them.

I requested a three tiered rolling cart that will hold all my materials for guided reading and math small groups. I will be able to house all my supplies at my small group table so they can be easily accessible to me. This will save me time getting my materials for the different leveled groups I have because everything will be right there ready to go!

My students will be so excited to have a designated community circle place! Afternoon meetings are the best part of my students' day. Having a comfy and welcoming space will mean so much to them.
