They are also learning how different parts of a story can connect, especially as the mysteries and events in *Holes* begin to come together.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active experience. I have especially enjoyed seeing students who don't always consider themselves \"readers\" become interested in what happens next and excited to talk about the characters. Having classroom copies means every student can follow along, reread sections, and participate in our discussions. The headphones have made a huge difference by allowing students to listen to directions, passages, and other instructional supports without distracting their classmates.\r\n\r\nFor students who struggle with reading or are still developing their English skills, being able to listen to text while they work gives them another way to access the same grade-level learning as their peers. We have already seen students become more independent and confident when using the headphones to complete assignments on their own. Instead of giving up when something is difficult to read, they can use the audio support and keep going. Our next step is to continue using these headphones during our digital learning programs and independent work so every student has the tools they need to be successful.
