This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 19 students. My students come from diverse backgrounds. Being a public school in rural New Mexico, we are blessed to have many cultures and backgrounds within our classroom. We have students who are living in poverty. We have students with special needs. Our school is in the middle of a small town, so we have a mix of middle class working families and those struggling to make ends meet. We are a Title I school. We have about 600 students in our school.

My goal is always to create a classroom community, or as I like to call it, a family.

Kindergarten is all about exploring and getting along and that is our goal for the year! My students are kind and creative and love all of the opportunities that Donor's Choose has given to us!

My Project

I am requesting supplies to start off our school year in August. Every year, I spend about $1,000 our of pocket to get the supplies to start our school year and set up our classroom. These supplies include desk name plates, bulletin board materials, folders, and decor for the room. I am welcoming next year's kindergarten students with a Troll theme and I need some materials to accomplish this task with my new students.

The anxiety of the first days of school are put at ease with a colorful, cheerful and welcoming classroom.

I want to set the tone for a happy, successful school year by creating a welcoming classroom environment. Thank you for supporting me in starting the year off right!
