Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Starting kindergarten is so exciting! For many of the students at our school, this is their first experience stepping into a formal school setting. Many of the parents and students feel nervous with this very big transition. Thankfully, our school does a great Open House Night before school starts where students can meet the teacher and get information to prepare them for the first day!
I want to create an Open House Night that includes folders with essential information for families, exciting take home items like bracelets for students to get excited for school, and opportunities for parents and families to connect with each other.
To do this, I will create a folder for each family with information about our school/classroom in English and Spanish. This will also include paperwork that needs to be filled out to help me get to know the child better. The card stock will help me print paper on different colors to make it easier to spot.
In addition, I want students to be excited to come to school! Each child will get a reading book with a personalized note from me, something they can keep forever. I will also record myself reading the book for them before school. They will use the glitter confetti to sprinkle under their pillow the night before to give them sweet dreams before school starts. The bracelets will be a fun thing for them to wear to school on the first day!
Finally, the photo backdrop will allow families to take pictures in the hallway to celebrate this exciting event!
