Welcome to Campus! Gardening Supplies to Create an Arrival Garden

Help me give my students gardening supplies and tools to beautify and create welcoming spaces on our campus, including an arrival garden on the bike path!

My Project

We are seeking funding to create a student-led “Arrival Garden” along the bike path entrance of our elementary school campus. This project will transform a high-traffic area into a welcoming, vibrant green space that reflects the values of sustainability, community stewardship, and student leadership. The Arrival Garden will serve as a daily reminder of the lasting legacy students can leave on their campus while fostering a strong connection between our school, the environment, and the community.

The Arrival Garden Project is designed to empower students as caretakers of our shared spaces.

By giving them ownership over the preparation, planting, and maintenance of the garden, we aim to:

-Beautify a key school entrance with native and pollinator-friendly plants.

-Encourage environmental responsibility and sustainability.

-Foster a sense of pride, belonging, and legacy among students.

-Promote wellness and mindfulness through green space exposure.

-Integrate hands-on, project-based learning into school curricula.

Community Impact:

As the first point of contact for many students and families arriving by bike or on foot, the Arrival Garden will set a positive tone each day. It will symbolize the care students put into their school and inspire future classes to continue the legacy of stewardship.

Sustainability and Legacy

The garden will be maintained by successive student cohorts, who will take on stewardship roles each year. Educational signage will highlight native species names, ensuring the story and impact endure long after the first seeds are planted. Once planting has occurred, materials donated from this project can move on to new areas of campus that need improvement, and the Arrival Garden can serve as an example of a stewardship project that can be echoed across campus.
