Help me give my students a classroom rug for comfortable floor seating, book bins to keep their books organized, and floor stickers to help them line up! l'd love to make our space welcoming, organized, and comfortable.
I am the lucky teacher of the most curious, energetic, and loving five and six-year-olds! They come to school each day with an eagerness and joy for learning that seems insatiable! They are such sweethearts and really desire the connections they make with their teachers and classmates! We are in need of a new rug to gather on as we do our whole group lessons. A child who is comfortable and relaxed will learn so much better! In addition, we would really benefit from having the book bins for the students' independent readers and preferred reading materials as well as the floor stickers to make lining up (as we do several times a day) a simple task to manage.
What makes learning difficult for some of my students is that many come from backgrounds where there is financial, food, medical, and/or emotional insecurity!
This is a lot for a little one to deal with and is what I work to combat every day they are with me. I work hard to provide the emotional and environmental stability they need and crave. Setting up my classroom each year is a work of love. I want my students to feel a welcoming sense of calm and comfort-both from me and the environment in which they spend over seven hours a day! The organization is a big part of what makes a classroom work well.
As a teacher in a Title I school, there are limitations to what can be supplied to teachers. I do what I can as far as purchasing things on my own, yet I also have financial limitations. I am turning to Donors Choose and the generosity of others to help provide my students with some special items that will certainly help them have a more successful school year.
