My Students

My students are energetic and creative 4th graders that enjoy learning.

I teach in a school where over 70% of my students qualify for a free or reduced lunch price.

The school is in a suburban area just south of a major urban area. The students are from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The community is supportive and values education.

In the classroom, we regularly use technology and enjoy our daily independent or buddy reading time. These kids love to learn!

My Project

Can you imagine walking in to your new school on your first day with nothing? That's how many of my students come to me on their first day. These supplies would allow the student to jump into the work we are doing rather than have the embarrassment because they lack the necessary supplies.

Their faces light up when they know they know you care enough to give them something when you only just met.

It sets the tone for the rest of the year that their teacher doesn't care what they can afford or were able to find in the moving boxes. It sets the kids up for success. AND that's the goal!

The binders will be organized with the folders and paper, and labeled to fit their daily schedule with all of their needed supplies to help smooth their transition into a new school.
