My Students

I work in a special education school, as a Speech Language Pathologist with children diagnosed with Autism PPD, Intellectual Disabilities, Speech and Language Delayed, Emotional Disturbance, and other developmental disorders. All of my students have communication difficulties that affect their expressive and receptive language skills.

My students are some of the happiest and most energetic children you will ever meet.

Many of them are looking for help to communicate with each other and interact with their peers and the adults who help them throughout the day. For me, working with my children is an absolute joy and I look forward to going to work each day. My day is complete when my children are happy, smiling, and communicating with others. They face many challenges throughout the day and if I can help them communicate those challenges in any way, shape, or form, I try my best to do so!

My Project

This new project is for new resources to use in the therapy room.

Some items include social and emotional material to discuss the changes in the world, how to take care of your health and to teach acceptance and difference with those people around us.

With the extreme changes that this world has experienced in the last few months, our children need all the resources they can get to help understand what is happening and why it's happening. One of the products included in my wish list is social and emotional development pack. This is our main goal this year as the students re-enter the school building with new social distance guidelines and ways to interact with each other. Social and emotional teaching allows the student to understand themselves and those around them.

In addition, some other resources include material to increase my students’ expressive and receptive language skills. For example, I put two toys on my wish list for my preschool students that help them request for different colors, shapes, animals and sizes during structured play time using their expressive language. I also included many products that involve following directions, basic concepts and core vocabulary.
