Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am privileged to work with middle school students on the mild/ moderate autism range. They are funny, quirky, quick witted and cleaver. We are a blended class of 6,7 and 8 graders. These kids are wonderfully inquisitive, love hands on learning. We do everything from reading, writing, math, science, art and daily life skills such as cooking, budgeting and sewing.
These kids think outside the box and live to discover new information, and they teach me as much as I teach them.
My Project
The students are coming back to school for the first time in a year and half. They will enter into a freshly painted new room where plants and brightly colored posters hang.
Every student will get supplies to make learning accessible and where they will thrive.
Every student will receive a care package of pencils, pens, highlighters, a notebook and a calculator. The students who will still be learning virtually will have supplies dropped off to their house.
Life skills will be taught on Fun Fridays where the students will learn to cook, clean and sew.
