This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students are super sweet, but lack confidence in themselves and their abilities. Because of their struggle with stress and anxiety, several of these students also come to school with additional anxiety from trauma or personal situations within their families.

These weighted stuffed animals will provide my students with a tool that can help decrease their stress and anxiety levels so they are more receptive to strategies to help build long term solutions for their needs.

When I first heard of these weighted stuffed animals, I didn't know what impact they could have for my students, but when I finally interacted with one, I found that they are true to their reputation.

In addition to helping with stress and anxiety, some of them also provide a discreet way for my female students to use heat due to cramps.

There are also ice packs to help when students are injured at school.
