Weighted Students

Help me give my students the weights we need for sensory input and strengthening.

My Students

Our school is located in rural Kentucky. We have half of our students that come from families with incomes below the poverty rate. We are also in close proximity to a military base and frequently, we have children that are transitioning to a new home and school environment. Besides these challenging situations, we have begun to experience a drug epidemic in our small community which continues to grow and influence the area. Our students have many challenges before they even step foot in the door of the school.

My Project

I have requested two sets of each of the .25, .50, 1.00, and 1.50 lb weights to use throughout our school day. We have several children that have additional sensory concerns that need weighted items. We do not currently have any of the ankle weights to use. These ankle weights are therapy grade so that they will stand up to the test of time and will be beneficial for many classes in the years to come. We also use our weighted items for students that need additional input when they are writing. They will be a great multi-resource item to have.
