My Project

Have you ever struggled with testing anxiety? I have and can easily recognize the signs when I see them in my students. This year has been a transition year for my second graders for many reasons. They are getting used to a new curriculum and a new program with lots of assessments. For some, it’s no sweat off their backs. Sadly, for others, it feels as if the world is weighing them down.

Help ease the testing anxiety that some of my students have during assessments by helping us equip our classroom with resources to help them relax during stressful situations such as tests.

Using weighted stuffed animals and calming toys, my students will learn how to self-soothe and treat their anxiety in a way they love and can understand - teddy bear hugs! As a regular weighted blanket user, I understand the importance of helping students with anxiety while they are feeling it. I know that something as simple as adding a little physical weight can decrease the emotional weight that these stressed-out students are feeling.
