This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach freshmen and sophomores at my high school within the Glendale Union High School District. I teach a wide range of demographics and many age groups for my subject of science.

My school is in a low socioeconomic area and many students never had a good chance to even have a science class or teacher to give them the proper lessons that the state has presented in the standards.

My Project

After being online for one year, my students are struggling not only academically but also financially. I want to purchase basic supplies and science equipment to assist me in teaching the content.

Furthermore, when doing experiment, I realize some of the equipment we had previously aren't enough for our larger class size this year and lack of funding hasn't allowed us to buy basic needs for science lab.

With the basic science equipment, my lessons would be more enhanced and as a district, we wanted to add more labs. Due to lack of supplies, we haven't done as many labs but with this donation, I plan on providing more hands-on activity for my kids.
